What is the workshop?

This is a US National Science Foundation funded project to maintain leadership in homogeneous catalysis and train next-generation experts and foster innovation.

In some areas of science, there is a "reproducibility crisis" in which results are not reliable between teams. We aim to keep homogeneous catalysis well ahead of that crisis because this aspect of chemistry is essential for agriculture, biochemistry, consumer goods, materials, and pharmaceuticals, among other areas.

The workshop will identify current and future challenges to the field by bringing a group of experts across fields and activities within homogeneous catalysis. Initiated by webinars, a two-day meeting will collect ideas and recommendations for next steps, areas of future research, and best practice in training new experts.

Results from the workshop will be widely disseminated starting with a workshop report, anticipated in late 2026.

Who we are

There are two teams developing this project and the workshop, an administrative committee to oversee the activities of the workshop and a scientific committee to guide the intellectual process. Members are listed below. For questions, feel free to reach out to Rory Waterman.
